When I was little, I made place cards for our family’s Thanksgiving dinner. Armed with art paper, markers and total creative freedom, I crafted cards that had each person’s name, a little picture and a phrase:
Aunt Libba. I like you. A picture of a bunny.
Grandma. You’re nice. A picture of a tree.
Then there was the one I made for my younger sister:
Lindsey. Everybody’s different.
At the time, I doubt I meant it as a compliment, but in reality, being different really isn’t so bad. It worked for Lindsey. And it works for Barkley, too.
Lately, we’ve been different in a lot of ways. Here are a few:
New Building
On November 1, we moved into our new space. New floor plans designed by Gensler have brought our teams closer together than ever before. We have no walls. Offices? We don’t need them. We all work together. We interact. There are 23 conference rooms with 180 seats. There are 38 collaborative zones with 212 seats. We have our own art gallery, a library, a theater and BBQ grills on our rooftop observation deck. We spend a lot of time here, so we make sure it inspires us along the way.
New Rocket
Our new building is the historic former headquarters of TWA. Original tenant Howard Hughes placed a Walt Disney Company-designed rocket ship on top of the building. It symbolized his dream of taking passengers into space. We’re so inspired by the idea of exploring new territory that we’ve placed an exact replica of the original three-story-tall rocket on our building. We like what it stands for. We like where it can take us.
New Identity
It’s safe to say that most advertising agencies exist in a sea of sameness. We find that utterly useless and boring. Our new identity speaks to our adventurous spirit. It’s smart, strong, curious and fun.
We’re independent.
We’re employee-owned.
We’re in the Midwest.
We have a rocket for a logo.
To us, that means something.
It means we don’t answer to a holding company.
It means we have a stake in our clients’ successes.
It means we live next door to the people who buy your products.
It means we’re bold.
We welcome you to explore Barkley.
